ABOUT SLEEPERS AND SCAFFOLDBOARDS
We’re an all about timber company
Sleepers and Scaffoldboards Limited pride themselves on the quality of their products, whether sourced from the UK, Sweden or the Baltic States, all are ethically purchased from renewable resources and their long-established relationships with timber mills either here in the UK or from across Europe have been built on the fundamentals of always providing good quality timber.
“All treated products have the relevant certificates.”
We are also committed to social and economic sustainability, as buyers of timber direct from saw mills across Europe and the UK, we work closely to ensure that all our supplies are sourced and originate from sawmills who abide by our own strict code of practice. We only supply timber that is ethically and ecologically friendly and produced by Saw Mills that operate under the standard sustainable timber trade practices and who have the internationally recognised accreditation with the industry certified bodies.
As part of our ongoing commitment we continue to review all our suppliers regularly. For more information on our environmental policy please contact us.

Important Safety Information – Reclaimed Creosote-Treated Railway Sleepers
Our reclaimed railway sleepers are genuine reclaimed products and may contain residual creosote and other historic timber treatment products.
Due to the reclaimed nature of the material, the amount of residual treatment present can vary between individual sleepers and batches. In warm weather, direct sunlight, or high temperatures, residual oils may become more apparent on the surface of the timber.
When handling reclaimed railway sleepers, we strongly recommend:
Wearing suitable protective gloves at all times.
Wearing long sleeves, long trousers and appropriate protective footwear.
Avoiding direct skin contact with the timber wherever possible.
Washing hands and exposed skin thoroughly after handling.
Avoiding touching the face, eyes or mouth whilst handling sleepers.
Washing contaminated clothing separately from other garments.
Using appropriate respiratory protection if cutting, sanding or machining the timber.
Keeping sleepers away from children, pets and food preparation areas.
Important:
Some individuals may experience skin irritation or sensitivity when handling creosote-treated timber. If skin irritation occurs, cease handling immediately, wash the affected area thoroughly with soap and water, and seek medical advice if symptoms persist.
These sleepers are supplied as reclaimed materials and therefore natural variations in appearance, weathering, residual treatment, colour and surface condition should be expected.
By purchasing and handling reclaimed railway sleepers, customers acknowledge the inherent characteristics associated with reclaimed creosote-treated timber and accept responsibility for ensuring suitable handling procedures and personal protective equipment are used.
